Labour Force

Labour statistics play an essential role in the efforts of the country to achieve decent work for all. These statistics are needed for the development of policies towards this goal and for assessing progress towards decent work. The following statistics are taken from Labour force Survey Quarterly Report February 2022 (Q1), produced by the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) as of May 2022.

The Employment Ecosystem Policy and Strategy Department has the following attributions:

  1. Coordinate and oversight the implementation of employment policies, strategies; programs/projects and interventions;
  2. Coordinate the elaboration of employment skills and workplace learning development policies and programs and oversee its implementation;
  3. Propose and conduct necessary studies on Employment development and decent work evolution in Rwanda;
  4. Coordinate the Labour governance, decent work, social protection activities and Compliance inspections activities;
  5. Ensure the labour litigation and mediation activities are well conducted.
