Preparations of NEP Awareness Campaign in high gear

Cabinet Decisions of 12th October, 2016 was informed that the Ministry of Public Service and Labour in collaboration with all Stakeholders in job creation are organizing an Awareness Campaign of National Employment Program-NEP (Kora Wigire) from 20th October to 21st November 2016, under the Theme “Development driven by Jobs Creation.”
This campaign will be carried out in the whole country where NEP Implementing Institutions will have an opportunity to visit NEP Interventions and to spread the word on job creation.
Employment for youth and women in Rwanda remains a priority for the Government of Rwanda.
Within this framework the Government of Rwanda initiated National Employment Program designed to create 200,000 off-farm jobs per annum.
Entrepreneurship and TVET are greatly considered as key components to achieve the targeted annual jobs for youth and women.
As a result the Government has invested in development of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) by equipping the youth and women with vital skills to prosper.
University graduates have also been urged to be job creators as opposed to job seekers.
Reconversion system has been initiated for unemployed university graduates to get practical skills and initiate their own businesses.
During the campaign, Citizens will have an opportunity to know NEP Initiatives and to be coached on how to create their own projects.
